All I asserted was my belief the OP was using the term "balanced" in the common vernacular.
I think one has to really take the term"traditional" out of the realm what might be considered to be it's traditional use in order to to interpret what I said in any other way.
It seems somewhat irrelevant to the point though, I'm pretty sure that by the time electrical recording machines were becoming popular for the commercial recording industry, balanced circuits were already being used in telephone communications because of the wonderful common mode noise rejection.
