just to tie this up for any other inmates using early cyrus amps, here is what cyrus said:
"The input voltage of the PSX doesn't have any impact on its output voltages, so you can safely connect your PSX to the amp without needing to change the mains input voltage of either unit. If you are using a turntable with the amp, then you will need to have both units connected to power (and through the transformer if different to your native mains supply). If no turntable is being used, only the PSX needs to be connected to the power.
This is different to the more modern PSX-R and PSX-R2 models, which require both units to be connected to mains power at all times."
