I can't comment on the original EL34 based Cronus as that one had a smaller power supply and would not accommodate the heftier KT90 or KT120 power tubes.On the other hand, I've had the Cronus Magnum for a while now with the KT120 output tubes. I also had the 'hybrid Class D' Rogue Medusa (larger sibling to the Hydra).
I owned both the Cronus Magnum and Medusa at the same time and they were not at all similar. The Medusa was veiled, rolled-off, and compressed compared to the Cronus Magnum. I would rank the 'hybrid Class D' Medusa well below some 'standard' Class D amps that use off the shelf parts. I kept the Medusa for about 3 months before selling it. I've owned my Cronus Magnum for about 3 years and plan on keeping it.
