The obvious answer to that question is for speakers of lower sensitivity. I use a pair of First Watt F3 stereo amplifiers to amplify the wide range and super tweeter horns in my horn loaded tri-amplified DIY speaker systems. I love the First Watts. They are by far the best amplifiers I have ever owned. Considering that they replaced Cary Audio SE 2a3 SET monoblocks that is saying quite a bit. However if the horn/driver combinations they power hadn't had sensitivities of at least 100 dB/2.83v/m I doubt I would be nearly as pleased with them.
I dream of an America where a chicken can cross the road without having it's motives questioned.
