"We've taken the all of the Bob Carver amps and done a very detailed cost analysis of them. That's what we do; we get to the bottom of things.
Just like Emotiva, we've taken our very simple cost and margin formula and applied it to the new Bob Carver amplifier costing. So, in the case of the Black Beauty, we've gone for $13k per pair down to under $8k. The 180's are now under $6k!
In the case of the Black Magic, we realized that their cost to build was significantly higher than they realized. It is a complicated amplifier with nearly as much build labor as the 305!
So, it costs $1690.00 delivered to your door, and IMO, it's worth EVERY penny. It is a surprisingly powerful and incredibly musical amplifier. And it's built like a gem, with nothing but the highest quality components and carries a 7 year warranty. And it's designed by BOB CARVER, the man!
Go ahead and buy a no name amp, full of no name parts. You'll get what you pay for in the end. We certainly could have made a knock off, but to what end? We're trying to make classic products that will last for your lifetime. Either you get it or you don't. There is one Bob Carver. These amplifier are made by skilled technicians in Nashville one at a time and they use all point to point wiring, no PCB's. This is very labor intensive and costly. But they are miraculous."
