Home Amp/Preamp Asylum

Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here.

If you have basic soldering skills

you can build a surprising good sounding one for about $15 using Radio Shack parts. I did that about ten years ago for an office system. Following a request, I posted the recipe in the Tweaks forum with part numbers and instructions. Eventually I built a better unit using DACT attenuators, JPS Labs wiring, Cardas connectors and a Par-Metal aluminum case.

Due to later changes in the system, I retired the second unit. PM me if you're interested.
