The Thiels are pretty neutral, very detailed and transparent, and fast. They require a good amount of power and I suspect with the wrong electronics some might even describe them as bright. I guess that's relative though depending on what you're accustomed to. I prefer to think of them as extended up top. Bass depth, impact, and detail are also excellent.
They require a lot of power. Sure, they will make music (almost) with 50-watts but if you need dynamic swing they will sound compressed at moderate to loud levels. These speakers really come alive and sound "effortless" with much more power to drive them. I like the Manley tube amps and tube electronics in general for driving the Thiels.
