I have had the W4S STP since February and I can tell you that I love it. It is very versatile with 2 balanced inputs and 5 unbalanced (including a HT bypass), 2 balanced output and 2 unbalanced. It has DC triggers to automatically turn on trigger equipped amps. Is passive but switches to active gain if it needs to do so and it is noise free as far as I can tell and I am driving 96db rated speakers. I drive my First Watt F1 from balanced outputs, my Wright Sound Mono 7's from unbalanced outputs, and a subwoofer from another unbalanced output. You can edit the input names and of course it has a remote. There may be many preamp selections at this price point, but I thank you will be hard pressed to find one with so many features. I have the basic unit - they now sell an upgraded version that has more premium components - so I guess it's even better, but that's hard for me to believe from the performance my unit already exhibits!
