No, it only feels as though it was 1934 ! The aforementioned about the cars is true, but they were old "bangers" (a kind of sausage with problematic electrical systems) when I had them. Actually, I started university when 16 and graduated in 1979.
I wouldn't be so upset with growing older except I'm becoming one of those people who believe that everything in the World (except computers, kittens, and cars) is worse today than ever before. -And more expensive.
My personal motto: "No matter what your power, wealth, or friends, the cheapest things in life are free."
