Curious situation. Without knowing the details- and I've never heard a 2a3 preamp, your system in general reads as though it should be energetic and dynamic- I'm not sure what might be throwing off the game. I wonder if impedance matching between the preamp and amplifier might be having an effect? If you talk to Leonard about fuses and a manual, you might also ask along those lines.
I see I wasn't clear in my comments, when I mentioned "cool running" I was writing of the D130, not the D240. The negative about the D130 being so cool is that it takes about 5-6 hours to warm up so I often end up leaving it on all the time. By contrast, the all-tube D115 warms up in about 30-45 minutes.
