Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here.

I don't understand the need for tone controls. A good tube pre-amp doesn't require them as it sounds great already. Besides, tone controls are by definition: distortion.
A very wise, old audiophile once told me. If the gear comes with tone controls it is because they are required to make things sound 'right'.
The $2000.00 range should give you ample choice for a decent tube pre-amp. Mine is listed at this site for only a grand and that's Canadian dollars. Tight, well-extended bass, sweet mids and highs that go on forever. Who needs tone controls?
