I have a new MC275 MkIV driving a pair of CLS IIz stats. Most of the attributes MS mentions ( particularly the current-amplified output stage) make it a very stat-friendly tube amplifier!!
I've also driven these same speakers (which I've owned for 17 years!) with a pair of ARC M300-MkII monoblocks (FET/Tube hybrid) which ARC trioded for me, giving an output of 140W/ch. And gee whiz, that only took eight 6550 tubes, per side!!! It sounded very nice, but nowhere near as nice as the Mc (**which I drive balanced BTW) And further, because of 16 power tubes and four 120V "whisper" fans (not) -- well, as we used to say in the '60s, "the goin' up ain't worth the comin' down!" Never heard a VS-110 in my system, which bars me from comment, and you didn't mention your speakers, which bars me from speculation ;-)
** Driving the 275 balanced means the signal doesn't pass thru the 1st 12AX7, making things even quieter, I guess. Also I don't recall if the VS-110 can be bridged to mono, but the 275 can, and at the flip of a switch, making it quite versatile.
