I am listening to a pair now. They don't have the drive of the V4's but the midrange is better than the V4's. They sound similar to the now discontinued QS Triodes with better dynamics and they drive the Vandersteen Quatro's I am using, very well up to a certain volume (room size issue) . I would suspect that a balanced pair would be even better.
The only tube amps I have compared to it are the Quicksilver Triode and V4's and the Audio Research VS55. I like the Silver 70's the best in the right size room. My current room is just a bit too big to use them. The V4's work better in the room. My room is 26.6 x 16.9 x a vaulted ceiling that varies in height from 8 feet up to 12 feet.
