...I went from (relatively) inexpensive sand (Rotel separates) to glass of the same pric. range, the PrimaLuna Prologue 2. Ac.ually, the PL2 was a few hundred c.eaper.
In the realm of things, the c.anges to the sound were subtle. Subtle, but obvious... if that makes any sense. C.mbals do sound silkier with better dec.y as others noted. The Rotel is probably a bit dry in c.mparison, and the PL2 definitely more resolving. I was expec.ing the bass to be sloppier than it ac.ually is... not bad at all.
For the money spent, I don't think you c.n go wrong. Yup - built like a tank, auto biasing (nic.!), and you c.n have fun tube rolling in the future. You'll be in good hands if purc.ased from Kevin @ Upsc.le Audio.
I was using a pair of 86 dB Revel M20s, and the amp drove them with plenty of "oomph". I would just not partner it with speakers that have big impedanc. swings.
