Cheapest route to try would be to boost the signal out of your computer using something like a nice headphone/line drive preamp. I've tried both Twisted Pear Audio's Kookaburra preamp and it's very good for the money if you can solder. Also maybe one of the McCormick Line Drive preamps would provide much better drive into your amp.
