Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here.

Pretty sure this amp is class B not AB

Based on the B100 being class B. I'm assuming the 'B' means something.

Topping isn't the first to make class B amps that challenge what we think we know about class A or AB.

ElectroVoice made some very interesting class B amps in the mid to late 1950s. They solved the magnetic spike problem that tube amps usually have when the magnetic field in the output transformer collapes by using a Circlotron variation known as the Wiggins Circlotron.

Topping in this case of course isn't using tubes. But they have a lot of loop gain combined with a very high Gain Bandwidth Product in this circuit so are able to apply a lot of feedback hence the low distortion.

My concern is a class B amp needs a beefy supply to be successful, much the same as a class D amp. Time will tell if they addressed this, but so far Topping has been batting well above their price points.
