But that doesn't mean that their distortion at, say, 1 watt is bad. Based on the ASR review, e.g., the Benchmark's THD+noise at 1 watt is 0.0005% or -106dB. In the case of Purifi 1ET400A it's 0.001%. Both extremely low. Whether or not comprised of high-order Hd, most of us are inclined to believe it's inaudible.
So my personal experience is with the Purifi. This is certainly the most resolving and dynamic amp that I have heard. On superior recordings it doesn't sound harsh, sterile, or unmusical. But I will grant that on less that best recordings I like my Sonic Frontiers upstream adding, I suppose, a slight tincture of 2nd/3rd order distortion.
