ugh. ..Again, I'd love to be a fly on the wall when the principals describe to the engineers how they want an amp, cd player, etc... to sound.
..Of course we know what was said during the product planning meetings in Binghamtom, the engineers were told....
"Okay team, we want you to design an amp that sounds tubby, bloated and, um.... Oh yes, veiled! ..we want the amp to sound veiled! ..And a bit sluggish! Because that is our demographic! ..People buy McIntosh because they're looking for an amp with tubby, veiled, and bloated sound!"
The engineers reply:
"But boss, are you sure you wouldn't prefer that the amp be transparent? ..Besides, how do we keep distortion to inaudible levels yet engineer into the amp all these characteristics you want? ..How do we engineer 'tubby, veiled, and bloated' into the amp in a way that no one can see these characteristics in the measurements?"
Again... so silly.
