What amplifiers have you heard that don't sound the same? That you could clearly distinguish between based upon some sort of difference in their sound?
There's no right and wrong in this game, we all have varying sensitivities to small, and sometimes even large variations in the performance of components and systems.
Frankly amplifiers used to be widely regarded as constants because the source's and speaker's variations were so strongly dominant. So history is with you, but times have changed along with the power grid and local EMI making life harder on amplifiers and today's speakers no longer cover a multitude of sins...
