I just tried something strange with 2 Panasonic SA-XR50s ( I bought 2 for bi-amping). I ran music through one, using resistors to simulate a speaker load for a couple hundred hours. I let the other one just sit in the box. At the end I compared them against each other. I liked both of them much better than at the beginning of the test, but I couldn't hear a difference between them.
This wasn't a very well controlled test. The results are odd and have left me confused, but at last content with my new amps. I had a fairly well used Sa-XR 25 which at first I liked the sound of much better than the new 50s. I was very disappointed. But after burning in one 50 on the resistors and comparing against the 25, I liked both the 50s as much as the 25, maybe even better. I get the impression they're a little smoother, but it's a subtle thing.
