I'm doing a burn in test

I have two brand new Panasonic SA-XR 50 digital receivers. I just bought them to bi-amp my Klipsch RF-7s and replace the single SA-XR25 that I've been using for about 6 months (I think.)
To me, these new SA-XR 50s both sound the same when used separately, and to my suprise don't hold a candle to the old 25. Could it be that the 25 is "burned in?"

My test is this. I'm running one of the SA-XR50s into 8 ohm resistors with white noise generated from my computer fed into the digital coaxial input. The output volume is set at -27db, and the white noise signal is at -0db. Played through the speakers, this is quite loud. The resistors are fairly hot to the touch from this signal. I calculate about 1.5 watts is going through them continuously.
The other SA-XR50 will sit dormant until I'm ready to compare. Then I will have my room-mate help me to conduct a double blind test. I will mark the bottom of the burned-in amp where I can't see it, have my neighbor shuffle them and give them to me so I'm not sure which is which. Then I will try to determine which one is burned in and which is not, playing them full range through the same speakers with the same digital input, the same sound tracks, and all settings exactly the same.

Any feedback about the validity of this test would be greatly appreciated. Also any ideas of how long I should do the burn-in before I do some listening?
