Tamed more than SLP-88, Softer?? More rounded, I am wondering if its possibly Its not the X-250 your not liking, I have A slp -88 with the caps upgrade the Audio-1 2.2uf 600v total replacement. (not an add-on to the current Multi/cap stock in there) I also own a Plinius SA 102. I didnt care for the RCA's, I liked most all Sylvania's & right now very pleased with a cheapo EH6sn7gold, much like a 5692.Are you feeding your X-250 plenty of clean juice & or a dedicated circuit. Just may be 1 area to research, and filter the AC for the pre.
