The PS Audio HCA-2 was my first audiophile Class D amp. It made the cover of Stereophile and I decided to try one (two actually). It was pretty good but not great. My first one had too much gain in the 30dB range so there was some audible background hiss in my Tannoy speakers. When I mentioned this to PS Audio they let me swap it for one that had reduced gain. It was better. PS Audio went on to sell the reduced gain version w/o telling anyone that they had changed that spec. We've all seen the disclaimer 'specifications subject to change without notice ;-)Still, it wasn't bad but not great. I've experienced several much better (and worse) Class D amps over the years. My last two amps were Class D including the one I'm running now.
