FWIW, a single ended triode amp and a single ended MOSFET, SIT or whatever amp will have similar but not the same type of distortion patterns. This means that they will also not really sound the same, also because of the output transformer vs. no transformer.
SETs also don't sound all the same because different tubes will have different quality of linearity that results also in different distortion patterns.
That said, a good theoretical look at this was done by Boyk and Sussmann where they ran SPICE simulations on the different elements of amplifiers.
