One of my best friends knew Berning years ago. He even produced David's first preamp and shared patents with David for tube
/FET combos. And my friend also was a very creative designer of almost everything including amplifiers with extensive knowledge of different circuit designs. And I recall when the ZOTL circuit first came out he called me excitedly explaining that ZOTL was a REAL invention, that all the amps of the day were variations of circuits known for years with improvements, of course, but that ZOTL was something really new.
