Probably true the amps were best known.
His LA-100 line stage was his first product and I owned one for several years. Later I had a LAP-150 (with built-in Jud-designed phono stage).
I never owned a J-E amp, although I auditioned a couple at home and heard them many times at a CES. Previously I'd owned a pair of Atma-Sphere MA-100 amps and their heat in my non-air conditioned home resulted in my needing to open the front door for more ventilation each time I turned over or changed records. I didn't want to live with that again. Plus I didn't feel his OTL type was a best match for my 4 ohm speakers.
Not only all that, the Carolina boy could make a great red beans and rice or BBQ when not thinking audio.
