The 100 watt rating is a bit confusing. First of all it's 100 total meaning it's a 50 watt amp. And that's into 4 ohms which is sort of OK since a lot of speakers are rated at 4 ohms. But most amps still give the 8 ohm rating as standard so comparisons should be at 8 ohms and that rating will be substantially lower than the 50 watt per channel 4 ohm rating.
But still it's a spectacular buy at $230 and if Herb likes it it must sound better than OK. It should be a great solution for a small system with carefully chosen speakers and source components.
