What I always liked about my P500 is that you can bypass the regulated "rebuilt" AC by plugging your amp into the direct AC mains duplex, and gain some filtering and surge protection and not have to worry about maxing out the P500 from excessive load.
Probably well known here the P5 does not have this feature. All duplexes are rebuilt AC. However I am using one dedicated P5 to power each Carver Cherry 180 KT-88 monoblock, which is designed for minimal power consumption. Each monoblock rarely consumes more than 20% of the rated P5 power output, as indicated by the meter. The P5 is a device that is in no way shape or form a device that restricts dynamics, headroom, current or power. It gives you way more than your wall outlet would ever hope to. Just make sure its sized right for what you are plugging into it.
Sounds like your amp wont work with the P5.
