I don't know that it 'beats' any or all of the suggestions, but I scored a McIntosh C220 for $2800 out the door last year. Floor model, bought on a 'we pay the sales tax' promotion.
Should last a lifetime. Sounds just like what you are looking for. Mine's not for sale ...
