You may want to look at a Don Allen's preamp. He sells his for about $800 and it is the best preamp I have heard. I was using a Conrad Johnson Art II and I liked Don's preamp better so I sold the Art II. I also own a Wavelength Sine preamp and have owned McIntosh preamps. Don's preamp blew them all away.Don's preamp meets your sound requirement, but does use different tubes.
