Whatever I end up with must be portable. An inverter / battery along with the tracker and my tripod would be a LOT.
Skip the inverter and use a stepper MIGHT save some bulk and weight.
With variable speed solutions, even a SMALL error adds up fast.
Another problem is orientation of the tracker to the pole star. Being a little off there will render even the most accurate drive as useless.
