Ok, a few years ago I had a Dussun v6i and had to plug in an old Bel Canto ICE S300 amp because I couldn't live with traditional designs. Then discovered Ncore after another experiment with later ICE, I bought a Merrill Audio Taranis but had the power go crazy with ConEdison electric here and blew out the power supply. I plugged in a third generation ICE Bel Canto REF500S and just can't see myself happy with it in my main system after experiencing Hypex Ncore. Then a Google search revealed Nord and I had to get this, custom input stages, op amp swapping supposed to sound better now with these enhancements. They had a 10% off summer sale so I went shopping. There is another op amp selection supposed to sound warmer and bloomier so I chose what I got instead because I crave air in my music.I need lots of power, this is 400 Watts per channel at 8 ohms, small and light.
Dual power supplies with this one as opposed to the Merrill Audio which has been discontinued as that company focuses on ultra high end. This really is incredible technology. I compare switching amps evolution to evolution in computer chips, every year more and more advancements. Hard to keep up with all this technology but you can if you have the time to devote to research.
