RE: When the facts won't suffice, discredit the person.

Most of what you say is valid except for the most important point. The customer deserves to know what he is getting for his money. If Tact is so stretched that a properly functioning unit off the line is a crap shoot, that the product support will be dolled out at the whim of the owner and that, if you express dissatisfaction at any point, they reserve the right to void the warranty, people deserve to know this. That is simply the point of my post. Nothing more. To assert that, as a customer, you should be prepared to be cheated out of your hard earned money simply because the hi end is a gamble is outrageous in the extreme.

The biggest problem with Tact is that once they have your money they figure you have no recourse but to take whatever they decide to dish out. WRONG!! The recourse is disclosure and THAT is the reality of business today in the interconnected world. Companies can no longer cheat customers and move on to the next sucker without consequence. That is the way it used to be. No longer.

Finally, regardless of how stretched the company is, after 5 or 6 fuckups in a row that customer should be put at the front of the line and efforts doubled to rectify the mistake. NOT the other way around, where after each screw up you get pushed to the back of que to try again and get treated like the another sucker.
