My main preamp is the Simaudio P8. Someone (friends, co-workers) is always using my backup pre, the Mark Levinson No. 380. When I find it, we'll hook it up to the NuForce Ref9SE, since both are in the same price category. We have the old B&K Pro10MC, and if the owner doesn't sell it soon, we'll also use that with the Ref9SE.Other speakers we have on tap include the Totem Model 1 Sig, ProAc Response One SC, Thiel CS1.5, Totem Arro & Forest, and Sonus Faber Cremona Auditor. I wish we had big speakers, but this is the Bay Area, and there's simply no room for large speakers.
AFAIK, NuForce amps come in black, silver, and rose copper. I haven't seen a gold NuForce amp, though that would be nice with, among others, Accuphase and CJ gear. My colleagues and I do not have the 9.02, so I'm afraid I cannot tell you how the 9.02 cmpares tothe 9SE. But if you do go for the 9SE upgrade (which, I'm told, is one of better parts), do not let NuForce saddle you with a color you don't like.
