Having just upgraded to the Karan I can't recommend it highly enough. It's definitely "dark sounding" if by dark you mean a complete lack of glare and harshness. The amazing thing with the Karan is that this is accomplished without any loss of detail. This combined with tremendous power and drive makes it a perfect fit in my system.
Admittedly my speakers (Marten Duke + REL Strata III) are very different from yours, but by the sound of your description I'd say that the Karan is a must audition.
I upgraded from another "dark sounding" amp, a Red Wine Audio 30.2 LFP-V. This is often described as a good match for Harbeth speakers, but the Karan is just so much better in every way that matters (I do prefer the size and looks of the RWA).
