Ok this spring I had decided to replace my phono stage, and was fortunate enough to come across as Esoteric EO3 in Seattle, which is about an hour to two and a half hours away...depending on traffic. Hate driving in Seattle. Since I was making the drive up there, I wondered if there was anything else I could pick up. I hopped onto Craigslist, and lo and behold there was an H2O Audio 250 Signature amp available. I sent an email, and the short story is I became the owner of a mint condition one.

I took the amp home, hooked it up and after an afternoon of warm up I gave it a listen, and was totally underwhelmed. I let it run all night, gave it a listen in the morning, and while better it was not exceptional. I unhooked it to demo a turntable for someone, and then hooked it back up to try again. It took me a week for it to settle in, and when it did the amp just blossomed and became one of the finest amps I have heard. I like that amp so much I decided to go looking for the pre amp.

I finally was able to make a purchase of a Fire pre amp from Henry Ho who is the designer/owner of H2O Audio. Its quite an imposing piece of gear for being a pre amp, I read in an interview the pre amp could output 8 watts with a few adjustments. Here is the two box affair, as 6 Moons has reviewed it.

Anyways, the pre has been shipped, its slated to arrive this coming Wednesday. Pretty excited about this one as everything I have come across says that owners of the amp think the pre amp is wonderful. They say the amp is great, but the pre amp...wow. So I am looking forward to hearing what this pairing will do, as I find the amp to be exceptional. My JBL 4365 sound fantastic on them, with low level detail, tonal expressiveness, massive sound stage, and great dynamics. The pairing is awesome, and I see this combo as being long term keepers.

So now I wait, have my hooves crossed, and hope the FED EX guys don't mess this one up.
