goldmunds are fast and exciting? maybe, but obscure lots of real musical details

the cowboys at highend often quoted "fast" & "speed" as superior advantages in the exclusive domain of goldmund amps. in reality they don't know what they are talking about and have not been to live acoustic performance in decades.

if you listen to goldmunds straight after seemingly subdued pass amps, you might easily get swayed by its "dynamic" and "revealing" nature, but in actual fact, it is their dynamic range being squeezed and upper harmonics pushed to the fore, that's giving that impression. listen closely to the goldmunds a little longer and you'll start to realise that upper extremes are truncated and rise time of transients get blunted as a result. instruments timbre get altered and much of musical nuances are glossed over.

apply the jerome procedure and listen out for which amps provide with more audible differences.
