You are right, the amp does not drive low impedance loads well. And if you have 4 Ohm loadspeakers, you might consider it a joke, but would not be laughing. Even nominally rated 6-8 Ohm loudspeakers have impedance dips at resonance in the bass which can drop down to 3-5 Ohms. That can be a problem too.OTOH, the DarTZeel can be the right amp for the right system if the speakers are right. A speaker with an 8-16 Ohm load would be good, ie., something with a series crossover. But because of the 100 wpc, it wouldn't have to be a horn. The GamuT amplifier uses 2 (?) output devices per channel also. I would treat them both like tube amps in terms of the speakers I used with them. The fact that the amp now sells for $18,181 is basically unjustified. It started off at around $9,000, which was about right. Then went to $12,000, which was pushing it. And now sells for $18,000 - not worth it.
