by the digital/video circuits typically sharing the same chassis. You also might notice that the more features the preamp has (more I/O, balanced vs single-ended etc). What else justifies the almost 2x jump in price from McCormack to Bel Canto ?I took a chance with the Meitner based solely on others' recommendations and my desire to have multichannel balanced inputs/outputs. Later, I took it into a McCormack dealer for an A/B session with different components; it took the dealer less than 30 seconds to figure out the Meitner was the better piece (e.g. more transparent, firmer bass definition, etc.). It took my untrained ears longer to pick out the details but I already had an inkling the McCormack "colored" the sound based on earlier auditions.
