If I am not mistaken, the SPP30 is not an analog pre even you use 6-channel input. As the dealer informed that the SSP digitalize the analogue signal then covert to analogue by its internal DAC. Therefore, even you have a decent external DAC or CDP or SACD, it will convert to PCM again and make distortion. That's why I found it good as a DAC pre for AV playback. Experientally, I compare it with the Krell HR and ML 6 or even I use the Goldmund 10P to direct drive the power amp. The SSP30 is worst result. For the amplification part of SSP30, I am not really satified at the price. At the moment, I prefer to use 3 stereo pre if I really want to play 6 channel SACD, but actually not really desire at th moment. I can't reserve that many factories are developing decent multi-channel preamp. But at the moment, only a few models are excellent with very expensive price.
If I have to grade the performance of 2-channel playback for the SSP30 in terms of price. It only worth USD1,200. max.
