RE: Eico HF 20 indirectly heated Rectifier substitute, any possibility?

Cathode stripping for audio gear is a myth. See my post below. It is definitely a concern with high power RF tubes but not with audio tubes like the 6L6. But as I said, if you want to try a 5ar4 go ahead and do so. EICO used a 5ar4 in its other, more powerful mono blocks, the HF-35, HF-50 and HF-60. More to the point, EICO went to solid state, instant on rectification in its big stereo amps the HF-87and HF-89, and I have never heard of any complaints about cathode stripping in these amps. All of these EICO amps use essentially the same circuit topology.
