Amp/Preamp Asylum Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here. |
|
Well, I was listening to the music for an hour and the sound suddenly disappeared. The amp is Cary SLI-80 hooked up through the Budgie phono preamp to the turntable.
I switched to CDP - no sound. In order to rule out the phono preamp, l connected it to the Eico HF-81 amplifier, and it played.
I am now listening to vinyl through Eico's phono input, but it sounds a little disappointing to me as compared to Cary/Budgie setup.
I checked and replaced Cary's fuses, but it didn't help. Where should I start my investigation tomorrow, given that I am not a technical man and I don't have tools to test it, except a digital multimeter? All the tubes in the Cary are glowing but there is no sound. Should I start with tubes (e.g., drivers first)?
Thanks in advance for assistance.
