Bambi hi,
What I suggest you do is go six padded cells to the right and post to the effect:
Newbie needs help with AR SP10 - in the subject.
I wish to lower the plate voltage so I can use NOS 6DJ8/6922 family tubes.
I do not have the schematic.
Help
I see the list of tubes you've been rolling and my GOD! That cost alone, far exceeds the cost of the finest resistors to lower the Vp and whatever else "might" need changing.
Bambi, tube rolling is just a bandaid. If you've read what I did with Jerry's(freetowor@yahoo.com) AI, you can at least get the use of NOS tubes, from someone that knows that preamp in TDIY.
I've rolled in all the current production 6922 and they all suck. Tele's are good but I don't care for their tone. IMHO nothing like the Amperex 7308's.
All the Amperex family 6922 tubes need to be driven around Vp 85-90 and 7-10mA per triode for the LINESTAGE. Phono can go down to 65-70Vp or so as it does not need to swing any voltage from a 5mV input. If I remember the Tube Cad stuff on this, w/o the grid going positive.
I don't understand your "flame war" comment- is there a disagreement I'm not seeing?
I didn't want to come off the wrong way, just point out the two pre's are very different and really see no point in the comparision as it doesn't help the owner of the thread. THEN, help you address your AR issues with the folks over in TDIY.
Some folks get offended rather easily. :-)
Regards,
Wheezer
