RE: Ayre VX-5 On/Off control via AyreLink Level Signaling

Testing this morning does show that the slow ramp down of the power supply is causing the problem. I verified this by pluging and unplugging the RJ-11 into the AyreLink port. The VX-5 powers up and down correctly using this method.

Loading the 9.6VDC supply with approximately 1k load did not affect the ramp down enough to solve the problem. Dropped the resistance down to 660 ohms, and still not enough.. Unfortunately my oscilloscope has lost it's trace, otherwise I would look to see exactly what is going on.

Will order some parts for the next approach.. using a small relay to break the trigger voltage well ahead of the trigger voltage supply shutting down.

Talked to the commander in chief (wife) this morning and we are going to send the VX-5 back for the upgrade to the VX-5 Twenty.. The cooler running operation alone will be a good benefit as I'm already using two 17dBA 48cfm fans to circulate air around the unit as it is in a louvered door A/V closet.

How are the turn around times currently running for the upgrade, excluding shipping?

Would like to send it back in the late October/November time frame. Will call the factory at 303-442-7300 x0

THANKS SO MUCH!

I have had two other products that offered factory upgrades. This policy makes me a lifetime customer with those who offer this service. Thanks Again!
