In the past 18 months, I have tried amps from Krell (which I found hard), Levinson (which I found to sound electronic), and YBA and Gryphon. Of all of these, I liked the Gryphon Audio Designs the best.From my experience, the Transistor Research Labs ST-225 sounded the most like tubes, without the tube hysterious effect or response.
As I stated above, I've been a "tubes only" guy for over 30 years. I can't say that anymore.
