I still want my Passive setup, but will be looking into what I can do with the Panny unit also. I think it is a great Digital product to trickle down to the Mid-Fi consumer and would buy it over any of the A\AB classed recievers out there under $1000. That is what I heard in the unit.Kmowing that the perfoemance level can be increased is a MAJOR [urchasing point as I have always maintained that if you want value find pieces that can be modified to bring them to NEAR SOTA performance.I like the stock unit for convenience and sound quality for the insignificant amount more than anything. I should hope your AVA gear outshines it being 11X more along with all the IC's you need to hook into it plus associated equiptment. I think I would cry seeing a unit perform better accross the board goiing for $300.L
People talk about transparency and it was a strong aspect that attracted me to the unit. Using a Passive Controller gave me that kind of transparency ,but to much of it as I was starting to listen to pieces that were only good recordings with stuff I use to like creating dust. For me the Passive Controller setup is wtill a must, but the Panasonic unit gives that type of playback which is clean that I look for and to get it in a $300 Do-It-All type of unit was just not there a year ago.
By he way I still am looking for that great amp also for 2channel reference to use with a Passive Controller! Plinius,Coda and a few others would do the job nicely. Maybe in a few months.I will be keeping the Panny also and it will be modified.
Regards!
