The best ss I have heard were my Gilmore Raptors but the Bernings are in another league.

Well, that might be the problem. If the Class D ICEpower based Raptors are the best SS you've heard, I don't think you've heard anything approaching the best in SS amplification, IMHO. ;-)

I say that because I have owned a few ICEpower based amps and none of them came close to the best sounding 'traditional' Class AB SS amps OR tube amps that I have owned. In my experience, ICEpower isn't bad, but it's just not quite there.

Just my opinion based on personal experience. But I think we both agree that it's very hard to beat a good tube amp regardless.
