Home Amp/Preamp Asylum

Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here.

Many people have more than one 15 amp circuit in thier place of residence!!!!

Anyone in a place bigger than an efficiency one room apt has more than one breaker circuit ALREADY in thier place of residence.
I live in an average one bedroom apt and have TEN breakers total in my apt. IF I would use the one in the living room next to the stereo (and I have) it is a 15 amp with a few non used outlets along with the one i would use. It has one lamp in addition to the stereo stuff. And the FACT that an incandescent lamp at the end of the circuit is a good thing to 'eat up' noise.
And I bet just about anyone has the same arrangement without even bothering to look at the setup of your electrical!!
The likelyhood of having your furnace on the same circuit is only going to be where you might have the stereo in a basement.

I am amazed when one particular 'thing' is a mantra for audiophiles.
The two I read of a lot are: dedicated lines, and room treatments.
Both marginal areas where the proponents are very vocal.
(and my marginal comment is going to draw all sorts of ire LOL)
Anyway, if you have a line with nothing on it already, the dedicated line is going to do NOTHING, repeat NOTHING for you.

Your current line could easily be made better, by replacing all the daisy chained outlets, just to really renew the screwed together connections, and a cheap way would just pull the outlets and check the screws for tightness. (free)

I being an insane audiophile, switched from using the living room 15 amp circuit, which was fine and had zero problems, to using a 20 amp single outlet with a 45 ft extension to my stuff. (four lines 12 gauge mil spec silver plated teflon quad twisted... yadda yadda..)
Which is a pretty thing to my sick audiophile mind. But in reality total overkill.
Did I mention no change in the results? No change. Oh, yeah. and the incandescent lamp at the end of the line. 7 watt, on 24/7
So look at your electrical stuff you have. Turn off breakers and mark them to what they control!!
I have mine marked and it is the first thing i do when i move into a place. So the two for stove, two for air, one for frig, one for sink disposal, one bathroom, two for apt walls and my currently used one in the kitchen, apparently for a microwave.
You can then see what controls what, where, and can arrange stuff to be just as good as ANY dedicated line the crazies use.
Rant over. thank you.
