Hi Freddyi, you just had to tell me about these things didn't you ! `,;^) Well, OK, it's Sunday and a good day for a drive . . .
A quick look through "Karlson" search results makes it look like they are mostly being used for bass enclosures these days, but I did find one post saying that Karlson had originally recommended using them with a coax driver. Apparently the early ones were used with the Altec 604C or other similar drivers.
Though I find the idea of putting the tweeter/HF driver down low goes against my instincts I'll keep looking for more info. If I can find enough present-day confirmation of good sound through subjective evaluation I just might give one a try.
The crossover with my drivers is the N-1600-D. I don't know how it differs from the 1500 but its switchable for 8 or 16 ohms. I suppose that might be it. Anyway I won't take the crossovers that seriously. Not having the slightest idea what sort of baffle width they were originally designed for it's likely that no matter what I build they'll have to modified for the step correction.
The Mastering labs stuff looks pretty neat, though I'd have to get at least one custom wound choke (the tapped one) and so it's likely to be expensive even if done at home.
'll do more searching and will keep you posted if I find anything .
Thanks !
