Fostex on hold till K's totally exhausted - speaking of quick comparsion of 16lb coax vs 12CX; both w. Ti205 and same pad setting (not sure if that's "fair" due to HF horn directivity diffs):

70Hz fs big magnet driver has greater sense of depth on kickdrum on cheapo C-Clear CD of Charlie Byrd's drummer (imagine that) - faster subjective attack/decay around the hall ambience - whether this can be seen in FR plot (or whether anyone gives a rat's-ass) not sure - but wish those old funky 12" were still available for all K12 builders - all two in the known world.

TS might tell part of story - ground-plane may tell but hassle and nobody looks at plots - may not correlate

heavy mag-EM is bit more nasal but better than 12CX - damn good overall - don't think Magnepans could compete on drum thing. 16lb coax rocks with Louie Bellson.

funny part - bet K12 ain't going low - but don't think that's the most important part of speaker performance

for K18 like 55hz 80g driver with qts ~0.3 - ain't gonna happen unless AA Craaft starts selling in US - then their Qts ia kinda high - but low mass seems good IMO

so so-far 70Hz fs, vas = 55l, qts = 0.32 and xmax 1.8mm is a good thing for Karlson Twelves except for being outta production

theres a chance CD8 will make 12CX sound more alive than with Ti205.
